Church World Service

AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church asks for donations of items for CWS Kits.  These kits are small packages of supplies assembled by volunteers and shipped to people in need around the world.  Blackhawk Presbytery has challenged us to assemble over 35 School Kits and as many Emergency Clean-Up Buckets as possible.  For more information go to  http://www.cwsglobal.org/get-involved/kits/

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship these meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.  AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church volunteers join together annually to pack meals at FMAC.  This is a great service opportunity and it is a lot of FUN!  Minimum age for volunteering is 5 years old and there are sit-down jobs also available for volunteers.  For more information go to: http://www.fmsc.org/

 Heifer International

AuSable Grove Presbyterian Church has been very active in raising money specifically for Heifer International.  Every year since 2009, the Church has raised and donated over $5,000, which is a Gift of an Ark.  Much of the money raised comes from our Heifer Hay Day held each fall.  The Church has received recognition from Heifer International for their involvement in raising money and awareness. This would not be possible without the ideas, support, and labor of love provided by everyone in this congregation.

Heifer International is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help end world hunger and poverty through self-reliance & sustainability.  See www.heifer.org for details and gift ideas!

 Kenya Partnership

This is a formal partnership between the Presbyterian Church of North Central Kenya and Blackhawk Presbytery in northern Illinois, as recognized by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The agreement provides support, training, and relationship for parishes, congregations, institutions, and pastors in the Imenti presbyteries.  Blackhawk has provided annual training programs, exchange trips between the presbyteries, consultation, and capital funds for a Conference Training Center in Meru. A number of congregations in the presbytery are partners with congregations or institutions in Imenti presbyteries.

Yururu Parish (photo on left) is AuSable Grove’s partner.  The Parish is located in Kenya’s central highlands south of Meru.  Yururu is made up of five small churches that combined together have over 600 members.  Rev. Jack Kimemia leads their Parish Session and maintains communication with our pastor so “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith” (Romans 1:12b).  AuSable Grove has opened their scholarship program to their Yururu brothers and sisters.
